Systemic Psychotherapist

Lucy Douglas

My Approach

As a systemic psychotherapist (sometimes known as a Family Therapist), I am interested in not just the individual, but also the system around that person. This could be a partner, children, extended family, important people or work networks to name just a few.  Ultimately, I provide a safe and confidential place to work through problems and difficulties that you or someone close to you could be experiencing.  Often a problem in one part of life can have an effect in others.  Systemic therapy allows us to explore many avenues of thought and can involve sessions with other key people or as an individual.  Depending on the situation, I would agree with you the best course of action, be that individual, couple or family sessions, or a combination.

About me

Prior to qualifying as a psychotherapist, I worked in psychiatric and learning disability nursing. After 15 years of inpatient, community and CAMHS settings in the NHS, I moved to private practice in 2015. In addition to this, I also currently work as a therapist at a private school in Surrey. I am highly experienced in working with couples and families as well as providing individual therapy to adults, children and adolescents.
